The Bromatology Directorate of the Municipality of Concordia reminds those responsible for establishments that produce, store and/or sell food, of the importance of correctly implementing the F.I.F.O. system “FIRST IN, FIRST OUT”.
This method allows for the organization of product storage so that those that entered the establishment first are the first to be used or sold. Its correct application helps to avoid food expiration, reduce losses, and maintain adequate stock control.
For correct implementation, it is recommended to:
Arrange products so that those that entered earliest are at the front and are used first.
Periodically check expiration and production dates.
Correctly identify products and keep their packaging in good condition.
Perform periodic stock checks to detect products nearing expiration or that are not in suitable condition.
Do not sell or use food that is expired, deteriorated, or shows alterations in its packaging.
The application of the F.I.F.O. system is part of proper storage management and organization, contributing to the prevention of waste and, fundamentally, to guaranteeing the safety of the food that reaches the consumer.
Bromatology will continue to promote good handling and storage practices, supporting establishments in meeting the necessary conditions to guarantee safe food for the entire community.
