On Tuesday, November 25, the “Flavors of Life, recipes with stories from the heart” fair will be held in Concordia. The gathering proposes the meeting of the most traditional ancestral recipes with the experiences that only the aromas of childhood can awaken. A recipe is more than a collection of ingredients. A recipe activates our history, our memory, and transmits much more than what the palate can perceive.
The Municipality of Concordia invites the citizenry to live this unique experience next Tuesday at the SUM of the UNER Faculty of Food Sciences, where retirees from all centers in the city will meet to share their unique recipes, specially selected for the fair.
In the lead-up to the meeting, hundreds of retirees from the city's five centers chose a dish that they will share this Tuesday. Flavors of Life previously visited the Pancho Ramírez, La Bianca, Bicentenario, Plaza Sol, and Villa Zorraquin neighborhoods. In those five previous meetings, the retirees wrote a recipe with a family history that now makes up a book edited by the Faculty of Food Sciences. The prologue was written by Gladys Portugal, head of the local government's Senior Citizens area. The book will be presented on the day of the fair.
The meeting is especially aimed at senior citizens and their families, but it is open to all citizens. It will be from 9:30 a.m. until noon, at the SUM of the UNER Faculty of Food Sciences, Mons. Tavella 1450. In addition to sharing the recipes, there will be live cooking and musical performances for the closing.
The activity is organized by the Undersecretariat of Development and Entrepreneurship of the Municipality of Concordia, together with the Faculty of Food Sciences (UNER).
During the day, you can enjoy a food fair, live cooking, tastings, and cultural activities, with the participation of the community who will share their recipes and the stories that accompany them. Access is free and open to the public.
As explained by the organizers, the event seeks to revalue the role of gastronomy as part of the cultural and emotional heritage of Concordia, strengthening social ties and joint work between different areas of the Municipality and the UNER.
“Flavors of Life is more than a gastronomic fair: it is a tribute to the stories that feed our soul. Each recipe holds memories, affections, and teachings that deserve to be shared. Our senior citizens are the guardians of those traditions, and this meeting is a way to recognize them and celebrate with them,” said Portugal.
