Program descriptions
- SUSTAINABLE SCHOOLS NETWORK
Currently, more than 40 schools in the city belong to the Sustainable Schools Network. Through the Network, educational establishments have an institutional space to share their experiences, receive training, and showcase their environmental projects. Schools that receive training on waste management are provided with a container for source separation, and a differentiated circuit is planned for the collection of dry waste.
- LET'S SEPARATE WASTE AT THE SOURCE PROGRAM
There are currently more than 50 dry waste separation points in Concordia, in different sectors such as Education, Municipal Public Administration buildings, and other institutions; progress is being made in stages regarding source waste separation throughout the city. To this end, Environmental promoters are trained to educate and visit the different neighborhoods of the city, carrying out awareness activities with residents.
- GREEN SPACE RECOVERY PROGRAM
Regulations are being drafted regarding the eradication of micro-landfills and the improvement of public spaces. Likewise, the creation of institutional instances for the detection of the city's Natural and Cultural heritage is promoted, to rethink and re-link the inhabitant with the place, raising awareness about the care of the natural and cultural values of Concordia.
- UCO (USED COOKING OIL) COLLECTION PROGRAM
With a view to implementing proper management of Used Cooking Oils (UCOs), a recovery and awareness campaign regarding UCOs is being implemented for household generators, ensuring that the citizen has a place to dispose of this waste. An agreement was signed with the company R.B.A Ambiental for the recovery of oil at clean points, restaurants, and dining halls.
- PLASTIC BAG REDUCTION PROGRAM
Ordinance No. 35339/2014 on the reduction of plastic bags was finalized, establishing the progressive reduction and subsequent prohibition of plastic bags, together with the city's commercial sectors, in order to promote waste reduction and responsible consumption policies.
- PERMANENT WEEE CAMPAIGNS (Recovery of disused Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
A collection campaign for disused electrical and electronic equipment waste is being promoted to reuse materials and components in good condition, emphasizing awareness regarding the use, characteristics, consumption, etc., of these devices; and ensuring that citizens have a place to dispose of them.
- PLASTIC COLLECTION PROGRAM
A recovery campaign for PET, bottles, and all types of plastic in general is being carried out, establishing clean points in the city, so that they are destined for the production of plastic furniture, avoiding their environmental impact.
