We Are
Water Guardians
An educational and cultural program for children and young people aged 6 to 13, raising a new generation with environmental awareness about caring for water.
Through a collaboration agreement signed between the National Entity for Water Works and Sanitation (ENOHSA) and the Municipality of Concordia, the educational and cultural program "WE ARE GUARDIANS OF WATER" is being developed in our city, aimed at children and youth aged 6 to 13.
Water is at the epicenter of sustainable development and is fundamental for socioeconomic growth, energy, food production, ecosystems, and human survival.
Water is also crucial for climate change adaptation and is a decisive link between society and the environment.
Human development requires that water and sanitation systems be carried out separately. Both are necessary to reduce the number of diseases and to improve health, education, and economic productivity.
OBJECTIVE
The program aims for the children and youth of our city to be trained with the values, concepts, skills, and attitudes necessary for harmonious coexistence between human beings, their culture, and their environment through an environmental education process.
METHODOLOGY
The different topics to be addressed under the program's scope have been defined taking into account the diversity of actions involved in the care and preservation of the most precious and indispensable natural asset for life on the planet, which is water. Thus, in each of the proposed axes, the intention is to mainly convey the need to rationalize water use by advocating for its responsible use, as well as to care for and preserve all water courses, such as rivers, streams, and lagoons, and to propose other forms of water collection and reuse.
This program is aimed at children and youth aged 6 to 13 in our city and is implemented in our city through the Environmental Development Unit (UDAAPA) and the Municipal Education Directorate, and is carried out both in neighborhoods and in primary education establishments through the realization of theoretical-practical workshops, talks, and recreational activities, linking children's literature, music, and theater, among other possible alternatives. In this way, training new generations of citizens with greater awareness regarding the care and preservation of our natural assets.
