The “Flavors of Life – Recipes with Heartfelt Stories” fair was held at the multipurpose hall of the Faculty of Food Sciences (UNER), a gathering that brought together residents, institutions, and senior citizens for a day where gastronomy, culture, and memory were the protagonists.
The event was attended by Dr. Luz Marina Zapata, Vice Dean acting as Dean of the Faculty of Food Sciences (UNER); the Undersecretary of Development and Entrepreneurship, Gabriel Enguelberg; the Director of Cooperativism and Associativism, Ariel Gorostegui; and the Head of the Department of Policies for the Elderly, Gladys Portugal.
During the opening, Gladys Portugal highlighted the importance of strengthening participation spaces for senior citizens: “This meeting demonstrates that memory and life experiences continue to be a beacon that guides our community. Each recipe, each song, and each story shared today reminds us that old age is an active, creative stage full of knowledge that we must value,” she expressed.
For his part, Gabriel Enguelberg underscored the relevance of the joint work between the municipality and the university: “Events like this allow us to support our institutions, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen community integration. The fair is an example of how, when we work together, we generate real opportunities for growth and participation for everyone,” he stated.
A DAY WHERE CULTURE AND AFFECTION WERE PROTAGONISTS
The fair began with welcoming remarks and expressions of gratitude, giving way to an agenda of proposals that combined tradition, music, dance, and gastronomy.
Attendees enjoyed a live cooking demonstration by cook and pastry chef Rosa Vadnal, who offered a sensory and narrative journey through flavors linked to family and community history.
The morning continued with a presentation of coplas and caja singing from the NOA region, performed by Gabriela Achrem, which brought the public closer to one of the deepest and most ancestral expressions of our folklore.
Later, the “Cumpliendo Sueños” Folk Ballet from the Ciudad Satélite – La Bianca Retirees Center filled the multipurpose hall with energy through a performance full of tradition and movement. The community lunch became a moment of exchange and meeting between residents, teachers, students, and senior citizens.
Professor César López presented “Songs of the Soul,” a proposal that recovered bodily and emotional memories through music and stories. The Villa Zorraquín Retirees Center Choir provided warmth with a repertoire specially prepared for the occasion, and the day concluded with a Gratitude Greeting led by the Yoga Group, creating a harmonious closing.
The fair was organized by the Undersecretary of Development and Entrepreneurship, the Department of Policies for the Elderly, the Faculty of Food Sciences – UNER, and the UNER Secretariat of University Extension and Culture.
Institutional coordination allowed for the development of a space where senior citizens were protagonists, sharing knowledge, experiences, and traditions that enrich the cultural identity of Concordia.
