The Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism of the Municipality of Concordia carried out a training session on good food handling practices at Penal Unit Nº 3 “Lieutenant Colonel José Boglich”, aimed at both inmates and members of the Penitentiary Service.
The activity was developed within the framework of a joint work agreement between the Municipality of Concordia and the Penal Unit, with the objective of creating spaces for training and labor inclusion for people deprived of their liberty.
The activity was led by the Food Control Technician Lorena Jeandet, from the Food and Bromatological Control Institute (ICAB) of the province of Entre Ríos, who provided theoretical and practical content on safe food handling. Upon completion, participants took the corresponding exam to obtain the Food Handling Card, a fundamental tool for the development of productive ventures.
In this sense, the inmates who completed the training will participate by exhibiting and selling their food products and handicrafts —made of iron and wood— during the Social Economy Fair, which will be held on Thursday, November 13 and Friday, November 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Plaza 25 de Mayo.
“These types of actions are very valuable because they allow inmates to acquire knowledge that they can apply in their productive projects and, at the same time, connect with the field of social economy. From the Municipality, we seek to accompany and strengthen these processes of inclusion and cooperative work,” expressed Ariel Gorostegui, Director of Cooperativism and Associativism of the Municipality of Concordia.
This initiative is part of the municipal administration's commitment to promote training, work, and social integration through cooperation and local production.
