The holding of the XX Conference of the Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Argentine Republic (IDERA) and the International Seminar on the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF) in South America, to be held on July 1, 2, and 3, 2026, at the Concordia Convention Center, province of Entre Ríos, and;
CONSIDERING:
That the Conference of the Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Argentine Republic (IDERA) has constituted, since 2007, the main national forum for meeting, exchange, training, and cooperation aimed at the dissemination of experiences, developments, research, and initiatives linked to the management of geospatial information and the strengthening of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), convening public agencies, universities, scientific institutions, international organizations, companies, and specialized professionals;
That the twentieth edition of the Conference will take place in the city of Concordia under the motto "Data that connects territories, intelligent decisions that drive development", proposing an integral reflection on the evolution of Spatial Data Infrastructures towards true territorial intelligence infrastructures, capable of integrating information, technologies, institutions, and actors to strengthen strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making;
That the current context, characterized by the exponential growth of data analytics, the development of artificial intelligence, the digital transformation of the State, and increasing territorial complexity, requires consolidating modern mechanisms for the production, integration, interoperability, and use of reliable, accurate, and updated geospatial information, with Spatial Data Infrastructures constituting a strategic tool for sustainable development, efficient public management, and the design of public policies;
That this edition also incorporates the International Seminar on the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF) in South America, an activity of international relevance organized under the auspices of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), the UN-GGIM: Americas Regional Committee, and the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre (UN-GGKIC), strengthening the positioning of the Argentine Republic and the city of Concordia within the international agenda regarding geospatial information;
That said Seminar aims to share the progress achieved by the different South American countries in the implementation of the strategic frameworks promoted by the United Nations, particularly the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF), whose purpose is to develop, strengthen, and integrate the management of geospatial information based on three fundamental pillars: Governance, Technology, and People, promoting more efficient, transparent, and innovative public policies;
That the magnitude of the meeting is reflected in the participation of prominent specialists, officials, academics, and international leaders from organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the United Nations, IDE Chile, IDE Uruguay, IDE Colombia, IDE Ecuador, IDE Paraguay, Wuhan University, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), CopernicusLAC, and various scientific, academic, and technical institutions of recognized international standing;
That during the three days, a broad program of activities will be developed, consisting of keynote lectures, thematic panels, plenary sessions, IDE experiences, academic presentations, technical reports, specialized workshops, professional exchange spaces, technical working group meetings, and the XV IDERA Assembly, the organization's highest institutional decision-making body, consolidating a privileged environment for the generation of knowledge, inter-institutional cooperation, and the strengthening of technical capacities;
That the various panels will address strategic topics related to geospatial governance, regulatory frameworks, sustainable financing, Earth observation, data reuse and interoperability, academic cooperation, statistical-geospatial integration, disaster risk management, land-use planning, digital cartography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), open data, territorial intelligence, and evidence-based decision-making, aspects of growing importance for the development of modern public administrations.
That the holding of an event of these characteristics positions Concordia as a national and international reference site in terms of innovation, digital transformation, science, technology, and territorial management, strengthening its institutional profile and generating a significant academic, scientific, economic, tourist, and cultural impact through the arrival of officials, researchers, professionals, teachers, students, and representatives of public and private organizations from different parts of the country and abroad.
