This Friday, Mayor Francisco Azcué led a new cabinet meeting where one of the main topics addressed was the progress of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, whose investment, with own funds, for this year, is around 20 billion pesos.
“We know that with every paved block, every work and improvement made in the neighborhoods, we are improving the day-to-day life of many residents so that, when it rains, they don't get muddy, so they can travel and take their children to school without complications; that is why we want to give more and more momentum to this plan that ultimately seeks to give back to the citizens what they contribute with their municipal tax,” remarked Azcué.
As the Mayor had announced at the opening of sessions this year, the bidding process for an asphalt plant is moving forward, which foresees a total investment of 1.125 billion pesos with a minimum capacity of 60 tons per hour and an estimated savings, based on the amount of mixture produced in the year, of 40% compared to contracting third parties.
This will give greater momentum to the production and execution of works, returning autonomy and control of the road network to the Municipality. In addition, it will generate local work and technical training for municipal personnel.
The more asphalt the plant produces, the faster the investment is recovered and the greater the savings for the city, since the Municipality will stop waiting for supplier availability, obtaining greater independence when executing works. It goes from buying asphalt to producing it. Added to these benefits is the fact that the plant is environmentally responsible, as its system allows for a significant reduction in particle emissions and meets international cutting-edge facility standards.
PAVING STONE PLANT
Also, information was provided regarding the Municipal Paving Stone Plant, which will require a total investment of 130 million pesos, allowing for a daily production of 2100 paving stones and the execution of 1.5 blocks per month of articulated pavement.
Regarding the savings it will generate for the Municipality, as an example, it was indicated in the Cabinet meeting that, buying from third parties, 4 blocks of paving stones would cost around 90 million pesos. Doing it with own resources, 28 million pesos, that is, 69% less in cost.
Likewise, the Secretary of Public Works, Fernando Esquibel, reported on the works being executed within the framework of the works program in different neighborhoods of the city, which have to do with pothole repair, curb and gutter, and storm drains.
