This morning, the opening of bids for the public tender for the acquisition of vehicles was held at the Decentralized Agency for Sanitary Works (EDOS), with a budget of 135 million pesos.
The expansion of the vehicle fleet is part of the investment plan carried out by the decentralized agency with the objective of continuing to improve the provision of water and sewage services in the city.
Mayor Francisco Azcué stated that “the utility vehicle fleet had not been renewed since 2015, and today it is necessary to take this step to be more efficient, provide greater safety to workers, and respond to the demands of the community, which is the most important thing.”
“As the Municipality's accounts were being organized, at the end of 2024 we advanced in the purchase of machinery, garbage trucks, motorcycles, ambulances, and a crawler backhoe, with an investment of around one million dollars. In that same sense, we are currently working on an infrastructure plan that includes repaving streets and improvements to the road network of Concordia,” highlighted Azcué.
Continuing along those lines, the Mayor stressed that during “2026 we will deepen investments to continue providing answers to our residents. All this is achieved thanks to the efficiency of the State, which is why we insist so much on the care of resources.”
Javier Del Cerro, comptroller of EDOS, indicated that they currently have 21 vehicles “but some are being decommissioned due to maintenance costs,” adding that in addition to the acquisition of these 3 utility trucks, the purchase of a sewer cleaning truck is planned, thus “expanding the radius of operation in a city that has expanded.”
Finally, Del Cerro highlighted that “previously, 1% of the EDOS budget was executed in investment. Now we are managing to execute 4%, which is a very significant amount and allows us to acquire capital goods.”
The public tender was for the acquisition of two double-cab utility trucks and one single-cab truck, with a budget of $135 million. Two bids were submitted by the companies SEVEK S.A. and DALIAN S.A., who fully complied with the specifications of the tender documents.
