On Thursday morning, the Municipal Vice President and President of the Deliberative Council, Armando Luis Gay, together with council members Carolina Amiano, Ivan Alalí, Sebastián Cuberli, and Alberto Zadoyko, toured the grounds of the corsodrome where one of the city's most important popular festivals begins this Saturday night. The visit also included a meeting with directors and members of the Permanent Carnival Board. “It is important to highlight not only the infrastructure improvements that have been achieved, as a result of the efforts of this municipal administration led by Mayor Enrique Cresto, but also the incorporation of technology to provide a better service to the city's public and tourists, facilitating the purchase of tickets and access to information about this festival through the website www.carnavalconcordia.com.ar” indicated Gay.
When speaking with the media present, the Vice Mayor highlighted the importance of accompanying, together with the council members, this festival that the residents of Concordia enjoy every year, learning about each of the details of the organization. In this sense, when asked about the improvements implemented in this edition, Gay maintained that “the use of technology stands out, with which I believe we are going to mark a before and after, since in this way more and better services can be offered and tourists can purchase their tickets from their place of origin. I believe that this points to the challenge we have from now on: that the Concordia carnival transcends the city's borders and positions it as a tourist destination par excellence. Together with the council members, it gives us great pride and joy to be able to see that the organization is impeccable, the stands are installed, everything is available. Waiting to start this festival that we enjoy every summer,” he noted.
Regarding the optimization of the grounds, the President of the Deliberative Council maintained that it is “a satisfaction to be able to see how the entire circuit was paved to collaborate in the circulation of both the members of the comparsas and the floats, and also to know that there will be stands that will remain permanent. A historical demand that is also fulfilled today”
ON THE PROJECTION OF THE CARNIVAL
“I believe that this carnival has no ceiling and if one compares the balance of power between different cities, I think we have a lot to grow and a lot to give. It is a carnival that has a very special idiosyncrasy. Each comparsa is represented by a sector of the city, experiencing a healthy competition to improve year after year, and that makes the artistic and cultural staging impeccable. This transcends through word of mouth and we see that tourists talk more and more about the Concordia carnival,” explained Gay.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PARTICIPATING IN THE ORGANIZATION
Established through Ordinance No. 35,600 enacted on December 4, 2015, the council members have an active participation in the actions of the Permanent Carnival Board, through the representation of two council members from the ruling party: Iván Alalí and Julia Sáenz, and two from the opposition: Sebastián Cuberli (Frente Cambiemos) and Carola Laner (UNA – Frente Renovador).
IVÁN ALALÍ
“The Concordia carnival is very passionate; it is a festival that already awakens the expectations of the city, of all the residents, and of each of the fan bases of each comparsa. Something that, for example, already began to be experienced in the sound checks that took place starting Monday, where the facilities were filled with the public present, many of whom are already feeling the pulse of this beautiful carnival, which has been progressing and growing year after year. We know that this year it is going to explode, being one more source of pride that we residents of Concordia will have”
CAROLINA AMIANO
“I want to congratulate the people of the Carnival Board for the work done not only in these last few months but also throughout the year through the promotions that took the carnival to every corner of the country, and nearby places from where different tourists can visit us. I want to congratulate the Mayor for all the commitment and interest in this festival, which is one of the most important in the city. What Enrique promised is reflected today on the grounds. The paving of the circuit is very important for the float builders and the comparsas; it was a historical demand that has been answered, and that is very valuable”
ALBERTO ZADOYKO
“During this visit, we are seeing the grounds together with other council members. Seeing how everything is turning out for the upcoming festival. Also chatting with the people who are working on the technical side to finalize all the details. Happy to be able to promote this festival this year with joy, in circumstances very different from those we lived in 2016 due to the circumstances suffered by the flood”
SEBASTIÁN CUBERLI
“The truth is I understand that very good work is being done, and as council members, we are supporting the work of the Board. For us, last year was an important year because we have worked together, and today we are demonstrating it once again. We were placed by the People to work all together. The city deserves this and much more”
MEETING AT THE CARNIVAL BOARD
After the tour, the authorities participated in a work meeting with the Secretary of Communication and Cultural Development, Luis Santana, the President of the Carnival Board Matías Soto, and members in charge of different areas of the organization: Sonia Albornos, Alejandro Quintana, and Valeria Wheren. In addition to learning about each of the aspects that the entity is in charge of, they spoke openly about the projections for this festival.
