The Municipality of Concordia held the Third Assembly of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens, an institutional participation space aimed at strengthening public policies designed to improve the quality of life for the city's older adults.
The session took place in the Deliberative Council Meeting Room and was led by the Director of Cooperativism and Associativism, Ariel Gorostegui, along with the Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, with the participation of representatives from the health system, public agencies, and retiree centers.
During the meeting, the main focus was on the healthcare of retirees and senior citizens in Concordia. Representatives from hospitals, clinics, and organizations linked to the sector provided explanations regarding the general operation of medical services and the organization of care, providing relevant information to the Council members.
In this context, it was also reported that the Carrillo Hospital has a 24-hour medical emergency service, a fact that was significant for many of those present. Likewise, the need to advance in training and information sessions aimed at retirees and senior citizens was raised, with the goal of improving knowledge about available services and facilitating access to the health system.
The Director of Cooperativism and Associativism, Ariel Gorostegui, highlighted that “this Council allows for the creation of a space for direct dialogue between institutions and representatives of senior citizens, promoting concrete solutions through joint work.”
For her part, Gladys Portugal underscored that “these spaces are fundamental for listening to, informing, and accompanying our senior citizens, strengthening participation and access to rights.”
The assembly was attended by Leticia Saucedo and Teresa González, representing the Sanatorio Concordia; the Director of the Delicia Concepción Masvernat Hospital, Dr. Guillermo Diego Bossa; Matías Benítez, Citizen Attention of the Municipality of Concordia; Victoria Jauregui, representing the Undersecretariat of Social Development; Andrea Chirino, coordinator of the Isthilart Home; Mercedes Carbonara, president of the Provincial Center for Retirees and Pensioners; Jorge Segovia, representative of the retirees; Josefina Sánchez, representing the Pension Fund of the Province of Entre Ríos; Councilwoman Verónica Del Boca; and Rosana Fernández, deputy head of nursing at the Carrillo Hospital, along with other authorities and institutional representatives.
The municipality highlighted the importance of maintaining these spaces for permanent dialogue, which allow for progress in strategic guidelines for the protection and promotion of the rights of older adults.
The next meeting of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 9:00 a.m., continuing the joint work between the State, institutions, and the community.
