The Municipality of Concordia held the seventh Assembly of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens, where the main demands raised by older adults were analyzed and concrete actions were defined to strengthen support and public policies aimed at this sector of the community.
One of the main points of the meeting was the analysis of the results of the previously conducted survey, which allowed for the establishment of access to health, dignified treatment and protection of rights, and long-term care residences as priorities. These axes will be part of the Council's work agenda.
During the assembly, progress was also made in the organization of the third edition of “No me sueltes la mano”, which will take place on September 10, within the framework of the Day of the Elderly. The event will feature a presentation by the Director of Senior Citizens of Entre Ríos, psychologist and Master in Psychogerontology Graciela Mántaras, who will address the topic “Aging in the 21st Century”.
Another point agreed upon was to establish a schedule of activities for the Council until December, with meetings planned for one Friday each month. In this context, the Ramón Carrillo Hospital will be supported with a nursing stand in Plaza 25 de Mayo, intended to provide advice to older adults.
Likewise, it was decided to support the Municipality's territorial approaches, strengthening joint work and the presence of policies aimed at older adults in the different sectors of the city.
Finally, the Department of Third Age Policy will work on a project to bring recreational activities to older adults who are in evacuation centers, incorporating recreational and support proposals.
Participating in the Seventh Assembly were provincial deputy Carola Laner; JxE Councilwoman Verónica del Boca; the Director of Cooperativism and Associativism, Ariel Gorostegui; the Head of the Department of Third Age Policy, Gladys Portugal; Margarita Cámara, from the “Gruta de Lourdes” Grandparents' House; Roxana Fernández, from the Carrillo Hospital; Mercedes Carbonara, from the Provincial Center for Retirees and Pensioners; Andrea Chirino, coordinator of the Isthilart Home; and Victoria Jáuregui.
This Assembly allowed for progress on a common agenda that prioritizes health, the protection of rights, support, and the participation of older adults, coordinating actions between the different institutions and organizations that make up the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens.
