At the San Antonio de Padua Cathedral in the city of Concordia, the Grandparents' Jubilee took place, an emotional celebration that brought together older adults, families, and community members in a space for gathering, faith, and reflection.
The activity, organized by the Nuestra Señora de Lourdes Grandparents' Home together with the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, had significant participation and took place in an atmosphere of deep emotion, highlighting the role of older adults as fundamental pillars of family and community life.
During the day, the Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, highlighted the importance of creating these types of spaces: “The Grandparents' Jubilee is a moment to give thanks, accompany, and recognize those who have built our history. Our older adults are bearers of values, faith, and hope, and as a State, we have the responsibility to be present, listen to them, and care for them,” she expressed.
Likewise, Portugal underscored the human and social meaning of the meeting: “Every activity we carry out seeks to strengthen bonds, combat loneliness, and promote an active and dignified old age. Seeing the Cathedral filled with grandparents and families confirms that we are on the right path,” she noted.
The event is part of the public policies promoted by the Municipality of Concordia, aimed at promoting the well-being, inclusion, and comprehensive support of older adults, reaffirming the commitment to continue generating proposals that strengthen their social and community participation.
