This past Monday, the election of the representatives of the retirees' centers who will be part of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens was held, within the framework of the process of forming this new institutional space for participation.
The session took place in the Labor Training Room of the Civic Center of Concordia, and was attended by representatives from different retirees' centers in the city.
As a result of the election, Jorge Segovia, from the Plaza Sol Retirees' Center, was designated as the titular representative. Meanwhile, Pablo Dalzoto, from the Colonia Ayuí Retirees' Center, was elected as the first alternate, and Silvia Sabio, from the Bicentenario Retirees' Center, as the second alternate for the retirees' centers before the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Department of Policies for the Elderly, Gladys Portugal, who highlighted the relevance of this institutional step: “This election consolidates a real participatory process. The retirees' centers not only accompany, but now have direct representation in a space where their voice will be heard and taken into account.”
Likewise, she remarked on the importance of collective commitment: “The Municipal Council for Senior Citizens is born to work jointly, promoting public policies that recognize the trajectory, experience, and rights of older persons.”
With this electoral instance, progress continues in the implementation of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens, reaffirming the commitment of the Municipality of Concordia to citizen participation, inclusion, and the strengthening of the rights of older persons.
