The Health Secretariat of the Municipality of Concordia, in conjunction with the NEA Region of the National Fire Management Plan, which reports to the National Fire Management Service (SNMF), is carrying out a new edition of the Basic Forest Firefighter Course (CBCIF).
The training, which lasts throughout the week, combines theoretical, technical, and practical sessions with the objective of training brigade members prepared to face emergency situations related to forest fires.
Secretary of Health Diego Sauré highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating that “this is the second time that the NEA Mesopotamia regional office, which reports to the National Ministry of Security, has come. They coordinate the Fire Management Plan and provide courses for brigade members containing theory and practice.”
“Today we are under the Frondizi bridge where practical tests were carried out for the brigade members that have to do with laying lines, creating firebreaks, and using pumps. Tomorrow (Friday) the physical activity part will be carried out, since not just anyone can be a brigade member. We are preparing for the summer, which we know is fire season,” assured Sauré.
For his part, forest firefighter and regional coordinator of the National Fire Management Plan Daniel Blanco explained that “it is a basic training for forest firefighters over five days, during which we have three theoretical days,” with this Thursday being a day of practice with motor pumps, water equipment, and various tools.
“We saw how they can be used if fire is used as a work tool on a small plot. Tomorrow we have the physical part, which consists of preparing the brigade member for some movement and strength situations. The course is very important and I thank the municipality of Concordia for having given us all the tools to be here, since these are very important training sessions,” highlighted Blanco.
Participating in the training are the Municipal Forest Brigade of Concordia, La Criolla, and Los Charrúas, as well as members of the Sapper Firefighters. Each of these sessions is evaluated by the National Fire Management Service, and those who pass them will receive the official CBCIF Certification.
