Every June 7th, World Food Safety Day is commemorated, a date promoted by the United Nations to raise awareness about the importance of ensuring that food is safe for human consumption.
Food safety plays a fundamental role in the prevention of foodborne diseases and constitutes a key tool to guarantee a better quality of life for the entire population.
Safe food is that which does not cause harm to the consumer's health; therefore, it is essential that each handler in the food chain assumes the commitment to produce, process, transport, market, and consume food responsibly.
RECOMMENDATIONS
This is a priority public health issue, which is why the Municipality of Concordia, through the Bromatology Directorate, shares with the community the five keys to food safety:
Keep clean and disinfect utensils and other kitchen elements to eliminate microbes.
Separate raw from cooked food to prevent microbes from passing to already cooked food.
Cook food thoroughly, to destroy dangerous germs.
Keep food at safe temperatures to prevent germs from multiplying.
Use safe water and raw materials always acquire them from authorized establishments.
The prevention of foodborne diseases is a shared responsibility. Therefore, education, awareness, and compliance with hygienic-sanitary standards constitute fundamental tools to protect the health of the entire population.
