The Municipality of Concordia, through the Decentralized Sanitary Works Entity (EDOS), has been implementing, in the road works included in the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, the replacement of pipes, household connections, and obsolete valves before proceeding with the paving or repaving of the streets.
These preliminary works aim to replace old installations before laying the asphalt to prevent future damage to the new pavement, avoiding the duplication of public costs that would be implied by intervening in a newly paved street in the event of a failure or leak, in addition to improving the quality of these services in the community.
Currently, one of the sectors where this replacement is being carried out is on Ricardo Rojas street, between Concejal Veiga and Diamante, where the mayor Francisco Azcué, together with the Secretary of Public Works Fernando Esquibel, pointed out that “we are working so that things are done well. Walking along the street we can see that there are layers of old pavement that show that things were not done as they should have been and this brings consequences. Today it is being done as it should be”.
“The old valves, which are very deteriorated, are being removed, and new water and sewage connections are being made to each home so that the resident has the peace of mind that once the repaving is done, they will not have problems with these services and the Municipality will not have to reinvest. We continue to take care of resources to be able to reach more and more neighborhoods,” remarked Azcué.
Once the renovation works of the service networks are concluded, the complete reconstruction of the structural package will be carried out, which includes milling of the existing asphalt layer, soil compaction, and gutters, to finish with an asphalt layer that will allow not only to improve trafficability but also to optimize surface drainage and provide greater safety to users.
