The Municipality of Concordia, through the Decentralized Sanitary Works Entity (EDOS), informs that starting from the early hours of next Saturday, October 31, a scheduled shutdown of the water treatment plant will take place due to work related to the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial (PID).
The works are included in the “Paving Plan for Various Arteries of the City of Concordia-Second Stage,” which are being executed in the northeast area of the city, particularly on Belgrano Street.
The need to carry out a temporary interruption of the service is due to the fact that for years, maintenance or replacement work was not performed, which would have currently allowed for interventions to be carried out by sectors without affecting the operation of the water treatment plant.
That is why, before each work being executed in the city, the replacement of pipes and networks, both for drinking water and sewage, is carried out beforehand, in addition to the installation of new valves so that in the future, measures that leave the community without service do not have to be taken.
VALVE REPLACEMENT AND NETWORK RENEWAL
The works include the renewal and adaptation of the drinking water network, as well as the installation of new gate valves, the incorporation of which will allow for improved sectorization conditions of the network and enable, in the event of future interventions, the isolation of specific sectors, reducing the impact on the distribution system.
In this context, the replacement of asbestos-cement piping is also planned, so the prior installation of the new valves is necessary to be able to subsequently execute said renewal, allowing the work section to be isolated and minimizing the impact on other sectors of the network.
The execution of these works, prior to paving, will also allow for the avoidance of future interventions and breakages on a recently paved road, optimizing the execution of infrastructure works and reducing possible inconveniences for residents.
The scheduled interruption will last for the period strictly necessary to perform the maneuvers, execute the work, and restore normal operating conditions of the system. Once the tasks are completed, the new valves will be incorporated into the network, contributing to improving the conditions of operation, maintenance, and response to future repairs.
EDOS requests that the population take the necessary precautions during the reported period, thanking them for their understanding regarding an intervention necessary to advance the renewal and improvement of the city's drinking water infrastructure.
