In the framework of the International Day of Older Persons, commemorated every October 1st, the Municipality of Concordia held a walk that brought together older adults from the city for a day of meeting, participation, recreation, and the promotion of an active and healthy life.
The proposal was organized by the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, under the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism, with the support of various municipal areas. The activity started at Plaza Urquiza and ended at Plaza 25 de Mayo.
The head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, highlighted the importance of creating these types of spaces: “It was a very lovely day, where we were able to meet, walk together, and share a different morning. These spaces are important because they strengthen bonds and allow older adults to be protagonists”.
In this sense, Portugal remarked that the International Day of Older Persons represents an opportunity to “recognize their rights, value their experiences, and highlight everything they contribute to our community”.
The organization highlighted the participation of the older adults and the support of the different areas that made the day possible, reaffirming the commitment to generate proposals that promote participation, well-being, recreation, and an active life for the older adults of the city.
At the end of the walk, the Undersecretariat of Tourism welcomed the participants with healthy juices to share. In addition, the day featured a musical performance by César Ceballos, a member of the El Ceibo choir, who accompanied the gathering with his music. The Secretariat of Health was also present with a vaccination stand as part of health prevention and care actions. The Directorate of Traffic accompanied the route and collaborated with the safety and organization of the activity.
