As a result of the joint work between the Municipality of Concordia and the commercial sector, it was agreed that on Wednesday afternoons, metered parking in the downtown area will be free.
The objective is to strengthen local economic activity, increase the attendance of residents and visitors to the downtown area, and stimulate purchases in the city's shops.
The measure, which has been in effect since Wednesday, October 14, is part of the “Paseo del Centro-Miércoles de Promo” initiative, which seeks to encourage consumption through promotions and discounts in stores.
In addition, the Undersecretariat of Culture and Education, together with the Association of Friends of the Pedestrian Zone, carries out recreational and cultural activities that take place in the traditional commercial promenade.
Mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the importance of working together with those who generate employment and invest in the city: “commerce is a fundamental part of the economy of Concordia and as a State we must work together, listening to them and generating actions that allow sustaining the activity, improving sales and the economic circuit”.
TWO MONTHS
The exemption will be in effect for a period of 2 months, applying on the following days:
October: Wednesday 14, 21 and 28.
November: Wednesday 4, 11, 18 and 25.
December: Wednesday 2 and 9.
The schedule adjustment will be applied generally in the areas covered by the system, without requiring purchases or credentials from users. Once the established validity period has expired, the system will continue to operate according to the current schedule regime.
