During the cabinet meeting held every Friday at the Municipality, the Secretariat of Public Works, led by Architect Fernando Esquibel, presented in detail the work planning and the investment scheme projected for the year 2026, which includes more than $18 billion allocated to road infrastructure, hydraulic works, building maintenance, and the recovery of public spaces.
The report presented is part of the integrated planning process, promoted by mayor Francisco Azcué, with the objective of organizing priorities, optimizing resources, and coordinating strategic interventions in every neighborhood of the city.
AN INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN BASED ON ORDER AND EFFICIENCY
“Managing the lowest resources of the last 10 years, lowering the tax burden like no other government has done before, we are going to carry out the most ambitious infrastructure plan of recent years with our own funds,” highlighted the Secretary of Finance and Cabinet Coordinator, Pablo Ferreyra.
For his part, Esquibel explained that the lines of action prioritized for the year include: Paving and repaving of streets essential for connectivity. Reconstruction of storm channels and drains to mitigate flooding. Curb and gutter and urban drainage in neighborhoods with long-standing demand for works. Improvements in the South Defense, pumping stations, and hydraulic maintenance. Tactical urbanism interventions, squares, and public spaces. Building maintenance in municipal buildings and health centers.
After the technical presentation, mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the importance of sharing the planning with the entire cabinet: “Planning allows us to be more efficient and take the works where they are most needed. We are consolidating a management model that combines fiscal order, transparency, and public works with our own funds. 2026 will be a year of strong investment in infrastructure, in streets, drains, and improvements that the resident has been waiting for for a long time.”
As it was already presented in the budget recently approved unanimously by the Deliberative Council, 15.2% of the Budget will be allocated to public works, more than double that in 2025, prioritizing infrastructure, pavement, sanitation, and public spaces, with a projected investment of $18.85 billion in works.
MORE THAN 30 STRATEGIC INTERVENTIONS PLANNED
These actions are part of the 2026 Infrastructure Plan, which will be executed with municipal funds and prioritizes high-impact community works with more than 30 strategic interventions planned for the city.
