The Municipality of Concordia is beginning a new stage of the high-altitude pruning plan, which will take place in the Pampa Soler neighborhood with the objective of reducing risks, strengthening public safety, and preventing situations that could endanger residents in the face of weather phenomena.
Following the intervention carried out on Eva Perón Avenue, work will continue on Pampa Soler Avenue, where intensive technical pruning will be executed on large specimens that, due to their size and condition, require specialized treatment. The intervention will require approximately twenty effective working days and will be carried out by personnel and machinery specific to this type of task, including the immediate removal of forest material.
These actions are part of the comprehensive urban tree maintenance plan carried out by the Undersecretariat of Environment and are complemented by other preventive measures promoted by the municipal administration, such as the cleaning of streams, reservoirs, and storm drains to reduce the impact of heavy rains and extreme meteorological events.
The Undersecretary of Environment, Joaquín Gobetto, explained that "we are intervening on trees that exceed 20 and up to 25 meters in height. These are specimens that grew for many years without this type of maintenance and today represent a risk to people, homes, public services, and traffic."
"With the passage of time, humidity, the growth of the canopy, and the weight of the branches increase the possibilities of detachment or falling during storms. For this reason, these tasks are carried out with technical criteria and always prioritizing those specimens that present a higher level of risk," he added.
For his part, Mayor Francisco Azcué maintained that the decision is part of a sustained prevention policy: "For months we have been carrying out a prevention plan that includes high-altitude pruning, the cleaning of streams, reservoirs, and drains, because each of these actions helps to reduce risks and protects the families of Concordia."
Azcué also remarked that "for many years these interventions were not carried out and today it is our turn to assume that responsibility. We know that they may cause some momentary inconvenience, but we are doing the work that had to be done to have a safer city prepared for weather phenomena."
The work will be carried out between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., provided that weather conditions allow it. In this context, the Municipality requests the cooperation of residents by avoiding parking vehicles on the avenue during working hours, respecting the partial traffic closures that may be implemented, and facilitating the work of the personnel in charge. These measures seek to guarantee a safe and efficient development of the intervention.
