With the participation of more than 100 teachers, the training "The classroom in the vegetable garden" began, a proposal aimed at preschool, primary, and secondary school teachers, which aims to provide tools to incorporate the vegetable garden as a pedagogical resource in the school environment.
The activity is organized jointly by the Municipality of Concordia, through the Secretariat of Productive Development, the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), and the General Council of Education (CGE), with the participation of the Concordia Departmental Directorate of Schools.
During the first meeting, the Secretary of Productive Development Sebastián Arístide was present, who highlighted the importance of creating training spaces that link education with production and environmental care. "The turnout for this training demonstrates that there is great interest from teachers in incorporating new tools and experiences in the classrooms. The vegetable garden is not only a space for food production, but also an educational tool that allows working on content from different areas and promoting values such as environmental care, collective work, and healthy eating."
Likewise, he highlighted the joint work between the institutions: "When the Municipality, INTA, and the educational system work together, we can generate concrete proposals that have a direct impact on our communities. We want to continue strengthening these types of initiatives and bring knowledge and production to schools."
The proposal includes four in-person meetings, which will take place on August 26 and September 2 and 23, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The training is free and grants teaching credits.
The opening session allowed for addressing the vegetable garden from an educational perspective, promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge among participants and providing tools so that teachers can bring these practices to their institutions.
The Secretariat of Productive Development highlighted the importance of continuing to support initiatives that allow for strengthening environmental education, sustainable production, and the generation of knowledge linked to the territory.
