With a large turnout and in a space dedicated to celebration, reflection, and recognition, the Municipality of Concordia carried out the “Celebrating Life” program, an activity organized by the Department of Senior Citizen Policies within the framework of commemorative actions for International Women's Day. The event brought together more than 400 people, who participated in a day designed to highlight the role and contribution of women in the community.
A Women's Panel was held, in which Laura Sitzmann, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, Silvia Ghiorzo, Silvia Belleza, and Silvia Pitone participated, sharing experiences and reflections linked to the role of women in society and in community building.
The mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the municipal administration's commitment to creating spaces for meeting and recognition: “It fills us with joy to see this support from the community. Women have been and are fundamental protagonists in the development of our city. From the municipal administration, we will continue to promote public policies that foster inclusion, participation, and the well-being of our senior citizens and the entire community,” he expressed.
For her part, Vice Mayor Magdalena Reta de Urquiza valued the large turnout for the meeting: “It is very moving to see this hall filled with women and families who came to share this proposal. These spaces remind us of the importance of continuing to build a more participatory society, where women have increasing prominence and recognition.”
Gladys Portugal, Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, highlighted the importance of creating these meeting spaces: “This day is very significant because it allows us to recognize the path traveled by so many women and continue promoting spaces where they can express themselves, share their experiences, and strengthen community ties. From the municipality, we continue working so that our senior citizens have more and more opportunities for participation and well-being.”
The day included artistic presentations with the participation of Tati Merele, the tango show by Sandra Apeseche and Roberto Salvador, as well as a movement meditation proposal led by Marisa Barbieri, Alejandra Schiebert, and Alejandra Zapata.
The meeting ended with raffles and a celebratory atmosphere that valued the role of women in the community, reaffirming the municipality's commitment to promoting spaces for participation and recognition for senior citizens.
