Within the framework of the National Citrus Festival, the 43rd National Citrus Conference was held this Wednesday at INTA Concordia, a space that brought together the most important sectors of the Argentine citrus industry, gathering specialists, producers, professionals, students and companies.
The event was carried out jointly by the Association of Agronomists of Northeast Entre Ríos (AIANER) and the Citrus Federation of Entre Ríos (FECIER), proposing a comprehensive look at the challenges and opportunities of the sector, with a program that covered everything from the analysis of the current situation, phytosanitary certification and current regulations, to the latest technological advances in disease management, post-harvest, new varietal combinations, bio-inputs and digital innovation applied to citrus farming.
During the opening, Mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the central role of citrus producers as a driver of development, stressing that “the growth of Concordia and the region depends on the citrus industry doing well. The State must be a facilitator, with less tax pressure and more deregulation to boost investment and employment.”
At the same time, he remarked on the importance of strengthening institutional ties between the public and private sectors, valuing the joint work with INTA Concordia and the Citrus Growers Federation in key actions such as HLB monitoring and technical training. “We must continue to bet on education, training, the culture of work and productive articulation,” highlighted Azcué.
The President of the Association of Agronomists of Northeast Entre Ríos, Esteban Pérez, for his part, pointed out that the working sessions should provide “information, contacts and new tools that contribute to expanding the citrus and fruit growing industry of Concordia.”
Melania Zorzi, head of the Citrus Federation of Entre Ríos, stressed that “joint work between the productive sector and public agencies is important because the development of this activity requires it.”
Meanwhile, the Director of INTA Concordia, Javier Oberschelp, indicated that “this space should serve to generate proposals, ideas and contacts that strengthen a key regional economy such as citrus farming.”
Participants included Vice Mayor Magdalena Reta de Urquiza; Provincial Senator Cielo Espejo; Secretary of Productive Development Federico Schattenhofer; the president of the Association of Citrus Growers of Concordia, Walter Silva Muller; the mayor of Colonia Ayuí, José Marticorena; the Ambassador of the National Citrus Festival, Sofía Camino, among others.
