With the participation of more than 150 registrants, the Second Edition of the Concordia Tourism Conference was held, a meeting space that seeks to foster the exchange of knowledge, promote innovation in tourism management, and strengthen regional integration, positioning Concordia as a benchmark within the Salto Grande binational corridor.
Organized by the Undersecretariat of Tourism of the Municipality of Concordia and the Mixed Concordiense Tourism Entity (EMCONTUR), together with the Faculty of Administration Sciences (UNER) and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA Concordia), the Conference addressed new trends, management tools, and development strategies aimed at projecting a competitive, sustainable destination with its own identity. In this way, the city reaffirms its role as a reference center for regional tourism, promoting joint work to strengthen the tourism offer and consolidate an integral and sustainable management model.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Concordia, Francisco Azcué; the Vice Mayor and President of the Deliberative Council, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza; the Secretary of Productive Development, Federico Schattenhofer; the Executive President of the Mixed Concordiense Tourism Entity (EMCONTUR), Laureano Schvartzman; the Dean of the Faculty of Administration Sciences (UNER), Raúl Mangia, and as a representative of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA Concordia), Ivana Maldonado.
REGIONAL PERSPECTIVE AND WORK
On the occasion, Azcué highlighted the importance of dialogue with the community and jointly with various sectors such as “universities, the private sector, intermediate institutions, entrepreneurs, and professionals,” noting that this is the way to reverse any situation “and get Concordia and the region back on its feet.”
Continuing along those lines, Azcué recalled the presence of the Salto Grande region at the International Tourism Fair “where we promoted its fishing circuits, wineries, and everything we have to offer. We must continue working with this perspective because we are not a competition but a complement.”
For his part, Laureano Schvartzman highlighted the importance of “creating these spaces for analysis and reflection because tourism demands planning and the joint construction of a shared vision. Tourism is not just an economic activity, but a development policy and depends on continuing to work together; developing actions that transcend the times of a political administration by far.”
The presentations were given by prominent professionals and leaders in the field of tourism, academia, and communication, including Mag. Luis Chalar and Mag. Pamela Velich; Lic. Andrés Ziperovich; Lic. Ivana Maldonado, together with her team composed of Melina Roman, Micaela Penco, Alejandra Moulia, Agustina Saccomandi, and Juan Favre; Dr. Gabriel Miremont; Lic. Mariana De Leo; Lic. Martín Lima; Mag. Carolina Tkachuk; and journalist Juan Pablo Regalado.
The conference was accompanied by representatives of the destinations Federación, Colón, and Villa Elisa; authorities from the Government of the Municipality of Salto (R.O.U.); from the Concordia Department, with the presence of the mayor of Puerto Yeruá, Daniel Benítez; representatives of La Criolla; and authorities of the Mixed Concordiense Tourism Entity (EMCONTUR).
