The National Citriculture Festival, the Provincial Immigrant Festival, and the most passionate Carnival in the country are part of the history, tradition, and identity of Concordia. In the context of the health emergency due to the global coronavirus pandemic, popular celebrations remain alive on social media with interviews, music cycles, and various activities to enjoy from home.
During the preventive and mandatory social isolation, social media have taken center stage and keep the popular festivals of the city of Concordia alive. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter allow for remembering past editions of the celebrations, interview cycles with the protagonists of the festivals, live music, and live broadcasts, along with interactions from users of the 2.0 world that bring the universe of the festivals to everyone.
The Carnival Entity launched, through the official social media of the Concordia Carnival, a cycle of interviews and dialogues with the winning figures of the 2020 edition. It is broadcast live every Tuesday at 8:00 PM on the official Instagram account of the Concordia Carnival (@Concordiaescarnaval), and numerous personalities of the most passionate festival in the country have already passed through the cycle, bringing the magic and passion of the carnival to social media.
Similarly, the United Immigrants Association of Concordia launched the “Prelude to the Provincial Immigrant Festival” to virtually enjoy the event that was traditionally held every year at the Teatro Auditorium. The proposal is framed within the motto "Traditions should not only be told... They must be lived" and contains the history of the communities, dances from the dance groups of the Communities, presentation of typical dishes, and traditions of each population.
For its part, the National Citriculture Festival implemented videos with current and former representatives of the festival providing recommendations on preventive measures to keep in mind to avoid coronavirus infections. In addition, the young women make recipes for dishes with oranges and highlight the importance of consuming citrus to strengthen the immune system.

In this regard, Matías Soto, coordinator of Popular Festivals, said that “in this unprecedented context that is being experienced in the country and throughout the world, with a situation that has never been lived before, social media are a great means to continue showing and reliving our popular festivals. With the implementation of these new tools and the collaboration of the users, the most important festivals of Concordia remain alive in the 2.0 world”.
