During this Tuesday, the Concordia Health Secretariat carried out a new health outreach initiative at the Municipal Shelter for people experiencing homelessness. On this occasion, the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) department performed more than 20 rapid tests on individuals who entered the facility to spend the night.
The checks were conducted by Biochemist Julio Quintana and Laboratory Technician Kevin Percara, under the coordination of the STI department and its head, Technician Tatiana Moreira.
“It is very important that these tests can be performed, which is why we at the Health Secretariat develop these types of public health policies, even more so with people who are going through a difficult situation in their lives,” highlighted Moreira.
Likewise, she remarked that “these tests are private, we do not disclose the identity of the individuals, and we take all necessary precautions in these cases.”
It is worth mentioning that days ago, in this same space, the Health Secretariat also carried out a vaccination day, in which broad participation was achieved from the people who attend the shelter.
In this way, the municipality continues to deepen actions of inclusion and health care, guaranteeing access to check-ups, prevention, and care for those who need it most.
