This morning, Mayor Francisco Azcué, representing the Municipality of Concordia, and Police Inspector Commissioner José María Rosatelli, Departmental Police Chief, signed an inter-institutional framework protocol.
The objective is to establish mechanisms for cooperation, coordination, and mutual assistance in order to optimize state action upon the detection of alleged violations of municipal regulations within the framework of police interventions, particularly those carried out in compliance with court orders, such as raids or other procedural measures.
In this regard, Azcué specified that “this action responds to the work we have already been doing from the Municipality with the institutions. There are procedures carried out by the Police in which we can intervene, in raids for example, where irregular situations are detected regarding non-compliance with ordinances or issues related to permits”.
By way of example, the Mayor indicated that there are cases of raids for drug dealing operating in clandestine kiosks “or situations of unauthorized construction, because drug traffickers often begin to build or occupy public spaces to reinvest ill-gotten money. If we have that information, we can act quickly and, at the same time, our inspectors can act accompanied by the Police”.
For his part, Commissioner Rosatelli highlighted that the signing of the agreement is “one more tool that we now have as a security force when we go to raids or different procedures and we encounter these shortcomings that clearly violate compliance with the Ordinances”.
Government Secretary Luciano Dell’Olio detailed that in the event of a crime, the Municipality “will take note and centralize the information through the Undersecretariat of Citizen Security, coordinating the intervention with inspectors from the different areas and determining if there are even breaches of provincial or national regulations”.
The protocol seeks to strengthen the prevention and combat of crime through coordinated and comprehensive state action, considering that in certain circumstances, clandestine ventures or irregular activities, which in principle could constitute mere administrative infractions, may be functional to or conceal the commission of more serious crimes.
The signing was attended by the Undersecretary of Citizen Security Claudio Purgart and the Director of Inspections Sebastián Franco.
