The Municipality of Concordia and the Association of Citrus Growers of Concordia renewed the cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening monitoring, prevention, and mitigation tasks for HLB (Huanglongbing or Greening), one of the diseases with the greatest impact on citrus production.
The agreement was signed by Mayor Francisco Azcué and the president of the Association of Citrus Growers of Concordia, Orlando Malvasio, together with the Secretary of Productive Development Sebastián Arístide and the secretary of the entity, Melania Zorzi.
The agreement will allow for the continuity of monitoring actions carried out in the Concordia department to prevent, detect, and mitigate the spread of HLB, through the work of monitors specially designated for this task, in permanent coordination with SENASA.
KEY AND STRATEGIC
Mayor Azcué highlighted the continuity of this joint work, as it ensures “that Concordia remains free of HLB. We know that these monitoring efforts are key and strategic to continue maintaining this sanitary status, preserving one of the main productive activities in the region.”
Along these lines, from the Association of Citrus Growers, Malvasio highlighted the continuity of the agreement “because it allows us to continue working with the monitoring efforts, which are carried out incessantly and allow us to remain free of HLB.”
With this signing, the Municipality of Concordia reaffirms its commitment to productive development and joint work with sector institutions, promoting prevention and sanitary care policies that contribute to protecting one of the city's main economies.
