Within the framework of the joint work carried out by the Municipality of Concordia, the Citrus Federation of Entre Ríos (FeCiER), and the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA), progress is being made in organizing a training session aimed at merchants and consumers regarding the importance of avoiding the commercialization of citrus fruits with green leaves.
The initiative is part of the preventive actions that seek to protect local citrus production and preserve Concordia as a department free of HLB, one of the most serious diseases affecting citrus fruits worldwide.
In addition to the training sessions, the Municipality will carry out awareness and support work aimed at the commercial sector. To this end, municipal agents will previously receive specific training on current regulations and the necessary preventive measures.
It should be remembered that since 2020, SENASA, through the National HLB Prevention Program, has regulated the transit of citrus fruit, establishing that it must be transported without leaves or plant debris, because fresh plant material constitutes the main route of dispersion for the insect vector of the disease.
From the institutions involved, they remarked that the prevention and commitment of merchants and consumers are fundamental to taking care of one of the main regional economies of Concordia and the region.
