With the goal of renewing essential services, improving infrastructure and road safety, the Municipality of Concordia carried out the opening of bids for two public tenders for the paving and repaving of streets in the Centenario, Universidad, Villa Adela, Sarmiento/Víctor Oppel, Don Jorge, and Parque neighborhoods.
The works are included in the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, with an official budget of more than 2.8 billion pesos, to be executed with own resources.
In addition, the renewal of infrastructure networks will be carried out, replacing drinking water pipes and the sewage collection network, including household connections and the installation of new sectioning gate valves and hydrants, which will allow for improved service to users in the areas to be intervened.
ORDER AND PREDICTABILITY
Mayor Francisco Azcué remarked that “these are works designed within the framework of a comprehensive infrastructure plan and are chosen based on different criteria, such as the location of schools or bus routes, seeking to generate a circulation ring.”
Azcué maintained that this “is the product of order, of working with predictability, of two years of doing things right, of cutting spending on things that should not be spent on. This year, works are already being seen and we will carry them out throughout 2026, investing approximately 15 million dollars in infrastructure works with municipal resources, allocating 20% of the municipal budget, and we aspire to reach 35% allocated to this type of public policy.”
After announcing that the work on Dr. Sauré street, which was also executed with own funds, will be inaugurated in a few days, Mayor Azcué highlighted that “we had taken office with a totally disorganized, indebted municipality. We managed to organize it, pay off the debts, and today we have the perspective of continuing to improve; that is our commitment to the city and the residents.”
HIGH TECHNICAL QUALITY
The Secretary of Public Works, Fernando Esquibel, highlighted that the process had significant participation from bidders, “which strengthens competitiveness and the search for better conditions for the execution of the work, allowing the municipality to improve the price and guarantee high performance.”
“The interventions not only contemplate paving or repaving but also the comprehensive renewal of sanitary infrastructure: modernization of the sewage network and household water connections, which will allow residents to have completely renewed and reliable services. We aim to deliver to the citizens of Concordia a final product of high technical quality, where every invested resource is reflected in durable works,” remarking that “we are convinced of doing things right from the beginning, with rigorous controls, transparency, and the firm decision that these works will not require being intervened again in the short term.”
