While the Municipality of Concordia advances with the production of paving stones at the new Municipal Plant, the bids for the public tender to carry out the articulated pavement work on Misiones street, in the sector between Boulevard San Lorenzo and Coldaroli street, were opened this morning.
The investment exceeds 230 million pesos, using own resources, within the framework of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial.
Mayor Francisco Azcué, after highlighting the number of companies that submitted bids, “which shows that competition has grown and is broad,” explained that “although we have a paving stone factory and we are going to make articulated pavement with our own resources, in this case, this first work is being done where we are going to participate; the staff will gain experience and later, from the Municipality, we will carry out the works with 100% municipal resources.”
Regarding the choice of the location to be intervened, Azcué highlighted that, as has been happening with other works included in the Infrastructure and Development Plan, “the sectors are chosen based on a prior study that determines not only the soil conditions but also whether they are streets where urban transport lines pass or there are schools or clubs. The goal is to generate circulation rings.”
The Secretary of Public Works, Fernando Esquibel, reported that in this first instance, four blocks will be paved, “on an artery that connects two important road corridors such as Coldaroli street and Boulevard San Lorenzo.”
Regarding the participation of municipal staff, Esquibel stated that the goal is for them to “acquire knowledge, work in the field, and in this way be prepared for future works that we will carry out from the Municipality to continue responding to the community's demands.”
Seven bidders presented themselves for the tender, of which two were found inadmissible due to lack of documentation. The companies that met the requirements were: Piuterra S.A; José Eleuterio Pitón SA; INCAR S.A.; Grinac Movimiento de Suelos S.R.L. and Construcciones de Ingeniería y Arquitectura COINAR S.R.L.
