Within the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, the Municipality of Concordia is carrying out a program of works in different neighborhoods of the city related to pothole repairs, curbs and gutters, and storm drains.
This Wednesday, Mayor Francisco Azcué, together with the Secretary of Public Works Fernando Esquibel, toured and supervised some of the sectors currently being intervened.
“All these works are carried out with labor and 100% with municipal resources, with our employees and our machinery,” highlighted Azcué, who maintained that this is possible due to the commitment and responsibility of the taxpayers and the efficient management of the resources that can be invested in works.
One of the locations is Victorino Simón street, between San Lorenzo boulevard and Tucumán. There, storm drain connection works are being carried out to respond to a demand from the community that, with every intense rainfall, suffered the consequences. “In this place, with every rain and because things were done poorly, our residents had problems. Today we are putting all our infrastructure to ensure this is done right and functions properly,” noted Mayor Azcué.
“This is a site where there were eternally problems because due to the slope, the water came with sand and gravel, clogging everything, affecting the pipes that were not positioned correctly, causing the asphalt to be damaged, in addition to the fact that we had to come to clean after every rain,” added Esquibel.
At Coldaroli and La Rioja streets, pothole repair works are being carried out. “Here the problem was historical due to a spring. That is why work is being done with a filter bed, with geotextile. The water will also be channeled and all the levels of the gutters will be redesigned,” explained Esquibel.
On the other hand, at the intersection of Chajarí Avenue and Salto Uruguayo, in the Parque Río Uruguay neighborhood, a curb and gutter plan has begun. It is planned to intervene in 30 blocks, accompanied by a road maintenance program.
Finally, the Secretary of Public Works highlighted that “problems are being solved that should have been resolved a long time ago because they were not done correctly.”
