The Directorate of Electrotechnics and Communications, under the Secretariat of Public Services of the Municipality of Concordia, continues to consolidate a sustained process of modernization of technological infrastructure and public lighting. Through comprehensive planning, various actions and works are permanently developed, aimed at improving urban infrastructure, strengthening security in public spaces, optimizing operational management, and raising the quality of life for residents.
In this regard, in recent days, the installation of new video surveillance points began in the Constitución neighborhood square and at the intersection of Urdinarrain and Concejal Veiga streets, strengthening the monitoring system in strategic sectors of the city. Along these same lines, the Directorate is advancing in the planning, installation, and commissioning of a total of 173 video surveillance cameras at key points in Concordia, consolidating a network that contributes to prevention and support for security forces.
In this regard, the Secretary of Public Services, Alejandro López, highlighted that “the installation of video surveillance cameras in public spaces provides greater security to residents, as it functions as a key tool for crime prevention. On one hand, it allows for real-time monitoring, facilitating faster intervention by authorities; and on the other, it leaves a record of events that occur, contributing to the clarification of crimes, contraventions, and infractions.”
Likewise, he remarked that “this type of technology is part of a process of modernization of the city, raising urban standards and strengthening the control and prevention system.”
Within this framework, work continues on the optimization of each video surveillance point and the integration of new technologies. Among the latest interventions, the completion of new wiring in the Víctor Oppel area stands out, which allowed for the creation of a connectivity node for the cameras located at the intersections of V. Peñaloza and Moulins, and M. López and Gregoria Pérez.
Likewise, the area took on the challenge of developing, planning, and installing six license plate readers at the main entrances to the city. These devices allow for improved vehicle control, strengthening road safety and optimizing joint work with the Police.
LIGHTING
Regarding public lighting, repair and maintenance work on luminaires continues to be carried out in different areas of the city. During the last few days, interventions were carried out in the green area of the Costanera, Liquidámbar Park, San Carlos Park, and in the sector comprised by Presidente Perón Avenue and Autovía 14, among other points.
In addition, within the framework of the neighborhood approaches that the Secretariat of Public Services promotes weekly, the Electrotechnics area carries out improvements and expansions of the lighting system in different neighborhoods. In the 21 de Septiembre neighborhood, for example, progress was made in the placement of new lighting arms at intersections such as Diamante and Gatto, La Pampa and Padres Capuchinos, and on De los Viñedos street, near Paula Albarracín de Sarmiento. These interventions allowed for the expansion of lighting coverage in streets and public spaces, including in some cases the extension of wiring lines.
On the other hand, new infrastructure works were executed, such as the installation of a new lighting point in the Mendieta neighborhood, and the start of construction of bases for public lighting columns on Odiard street, between Av. San Lorenzo and Mendiburu.
In this context, López stressed that “the strengthening of the communications system, the expansion of efficient lighting, and the incorporation of technology in different parts of the city are fundamental pillars of the modernization strategy that we are carrying out.” And he concluded that “these public policies not only optimize resources and improve the municipality's response capacity, but also translate into more security, greater visibility, and better living conditions for residents in every neighborhood of Concordia.”
