With specialized equipment and trained personnel, large trees located on the city's main arteries will be serviced. The measure aims to reduce risks for residents, drivers, and urban infrastructure.
The Municipality of Concordia has launched a high-altitude pruning plan in different parts of the city, a preventive task aimed primarily at reinforcing public safety and reducing the risks posed by large branches located over high-traffic avenues and streets.
The work will extend throughout June and July, focusing on those specimens that present the highest risk situations. The intervention is part of an urban tree maintenance strategy that complements the actions usually carried out by the Undersecretariat of Environment in the care and management of green spaces.
The decision also represents a change in approach to the management of large trees. For years, this type of specialized intervention was not carried out systematically, creating situations that now require a priority response from the municipality.
"We are acting on the most urgent cases, those that may pose a danger to pedestrians, vehicles, homes, or public services, especially in the face of intense weather phenomena such as storms or strong winds," noted the Undersecretary of Environment, Joaquín Gobetto.
A TASK THAT REQUIRES SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
Unlike conventional pruning, high-altitude pruning requires specific machinery and highly trained personnel to work in complex and risky conditions.
For this reason, the Municipality hired a specialized company that has crane trucks with baskets for high-altitude work, qualified operators, personnel specialized in pruning and trimming large trees, as well as vehicles intended for the removal and transport of branches.
These characteristics allow for safe intervention on specimens located in areas of intense vehicular and pedestrian traffic, minimizing risks during the execution of the tasks.
PREVENTION AND PLANNING
The municipality remarked that the main objective is to anticipate situations that could lead to accidents or material damage. High-altitude pruning constitutes a fundamental tool to preserve the state of the urban tree population and guarantee safe coexistence between green infrastructure and the city's development.
In this first stage, progress will be made on the cases considered most critical. Once the planned work period is completed, the results and the continuity of this type of intervention will be evaluated, with the purpose of consolidating a sustained policy of preventive maintenance of the urban tree population.
