The Municipality of Concordia, through the Decentralized Sanitary Works Agency, carried out the replacement of valves and extensions in the drinking water network this morning on Paula Albarracín street, in the section that is about to be paved within the framework of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial.
These works are fundamental to ensure that the service is efficient, safe, and continuous. Before paving a street, it is vital to replace obsolete underground valves, since in the event of a failure occurring under the new pavement, the newly laid asphalt would have to be broken to repair it, doubling public costs.
The mayor Francisco Azcué, together with the Secretary of Public Works Fernando Esquibel, was touring the site. In this regard, they highlighted the importance of these works because “they guarantee quality in the service and safety, since over time, the networks, both water and sewage, wear out, and with the arrival of the pavement, the execution of these complementary works is required.”
For her part, María Belén Rodríguez, EDOS inspector, explained that these connections and replacements have been carried out in the sectors where the Municipality is carrying out paving works: “these connections and replacements not only provide greater durability but also guarantee a substantial improvement in the drinking water distribution network. We thank the residents for their patience because in order to carry out these works, the service must be interrupted for several hours.”
The section of Paula Albarracín de Sarmiento street, between España and Mario Gatto streets, is within the paving plan that includes 37 blocks, distributed in the following sectors: La Pampa street, between Presidente Illia and Lieberman street (in execution); JJ Valle street, between La Pampa and Presbítero Odiard street; Moulins street, between Yuquerí boulevard and Maestra Peñaloza street.
In Villa Adela, the following will be paved: Ecuador street, between Virgen del Carmen and Avenida Unión streets; Avenida Unión, between Ecuador and Idelfonso Cuadrado streets; Idelfonso Cuadrado street, between Avenida Unión and San Cayetano street.
