In what is the second stage of the high-altitude pruning plan being carried out by the Municipality of Concordia, work began this Thursday in the Pampa Soler neighborhood, an area that features large trees that had never been intervened, becoming a risk for the local residents.
These actions are included within the framework of the public policies that have been developed with the objective of reducing or mitigating the impact of natural phenomena in the city.
Mayor Francisco Azcué was at the site, where he stated that “for many years, what needed to be done was not done, and later consequences arise like those we had in the last storm. There are many sectors where we have to intervene, which is why we are allocating resources for this plan, trying to reduce times, intervening in trees that present a risk, because we know that we will continue to have storms and heavy rains”.
“When we talk to the residents, they prioritize these types of issues, which is why we are working with specialized personnel and equipment, providing answers. These trees are not in good condition and represent a risk to the infrastructure and to people,” remarked Azcué.
The works, which are expected to extend for around 20 effective days, are part of the comprehensive urban tree maintenance program carried out by the Undersecretariat of Environment
In this regard, Joaquín Gobetto, Undersecretary of Environment, explained that on Pampa Soler Avenue there is a significant number “of large trees, with considerable height, located very close to the houses, which is why the work being done is very careful and will take several days”.
Interventions are carried out from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., provided that weather conditions allow it. Residents are requested to respect and be attentive to the instructions of the municipal personnel to avoid situations that put the normal development of activities at risk.
