The Municipality of Concordia, through the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism and the Department of Policies for the Elderly, is carrying out joint work with Technical Education School No. 1 “Brigadier General Pascual Echagüe”, with the objective of repairing and restoring wheelchairs.
The initiative seeks to recover these fundamental elements for mobility and inclusion, which will subsequently be destined for different institutions in the city, contributing to improving the quality of service and care for people who need it.
The Director of Cooperativism and Associativism, Ariel Gorostegui, stressed that “this type of initiative strengthens the bond between the State and technical education, generating opportunities for students to put their knowledge into practice in real situations, with a strong social sense.”
For her part, the head of the Department of Policies for the Elderly, Gladys Portugal, highlighted that “this joint work represents a concrete action that directly impacts the quality of life of older adults and those who need assistance. It is very valuable to be able to coordinate with an educational institution and, above all, to see the commitment of the students in this solidarity process.”
Likewise, both officials agreed to highlight the work carried out by the students of the institution, who, in the school workshops, perform recovery, repair, and restoration tasks on the wheelchairs. “It is a very important formative process, where not only technical skills are acquired, but also values such as solidarity, commitment, and teamwork,” they remarked.
In this sense, they announced that it is expected to advance soon in the signing of an agreement that formalizes and gives continuity to this articulated work between the Municipality and the educational institution.
The rector of the educational establishment, José Canet, and the Workshop Chief, Martín Rivero, also participate in the process, accompanying and coordinating the development of these practices within the institution.
In this way, Concordia continues to promote actions that integrate education, social development, and cooperation, promoting a more inclusive community with greater opportunities.
