With high expectations for public turnout, this Saturday, February 17th, will be the sixth and final night of the Concordia Carnival. The Carnival Board reported that the online sales system is currently overwhelmed, so they recommended purchasing tickets directly at Caja Mixta and in advance. Expansions have been arranged in the VIP and grandstand sectors for the greater comfort of attendees, and it was also announced that by order of the Mayor Enrique Cresto, two 0km motorcycles will be raffled among the attendees.
This has been an edition that will remain in the memory of the entire carnival family, due to the significant organizational advances experienced by the biggest summer festival. The confirmation of the call for tenders for the construction of the first stage of the Corsódromo's own grandstands, whose tender envelopes will be opened in March, is one of the season's news items that consolidates the event as the main cultural and tourist proposal of the summer in the city. "From the first day, the Mayor Enrique Cresto made the decision to boost the festival, due to its cultural importance, its popular roots, and the significance as a tourist product it can have," indicated Matias Soto, president of the Carnival Board. "Many improvements have been made to the site, the paving of the side streets, the space for the percussion section, various improvements that will remain forever for the Concordia Carnival," he maintained.
"Given the success this edition has had, and as a way of giving back to all the public that supports the Carnival, the Mayor, together with the Provincial Insurance Institute, ordered that the raffle of two 0km motorcycles be held during the last parade among all the attending public," announced Soto. "So, in addition to having fun and enjoying the most passionate carnival, two people will return home with an important prize," he noted. "We expect more than 12,000 people, the Corsódromo will be a great party," he anticipated.
Last Parade and point counting
On Saturday, there will be the massive final competition parade. And the next day, Sunday, February 18th, in an almost unprecedented event in years of organizing the Concordia Carnival, the ballot box with the judges' scorecards will be opened and the points will be counted. "The day after the last parade we are going to do the point counting," and thus on Monday, Concordia will wake up knowing the new champion and the distinguished figures of this 2018 edition.
