In the framework of the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Deliberative Council of Concordia, initially presided over by the vice-mayor Lic. Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, the formal swearing-in ceremony of councilman Jorge Antonio Mendieta was held. In this way, the brand-new council member officially joined the legislative body to integrate the opposition bench for the Más para Entre Ríos bloc, completing the parliamentary representation in the chamber.
After formalizing his commitment before the authorities of the body and his peers at the beginning of the debate, Mendieta took the floor during the tribute segment to pay a heartfelt tribute to his predecessor and friend, Dr. Guillermo Satalía Méndez, whom he replaces following his recent and unexpected passing. During his speech, he expressed the deep pain of assuming the seat under these circumstances and recalled that, beyond the shared passion for political activism, he was united with Satalía Méndez by many years of affection. In that context, he remarked that the best tribute to his colleague is to continue with the same commitment, firmness, and conviction in the role of opposition for which the ticket was elected.
When outlining the guidelines for his future legislative work, Mendieta clarified that his political position will never be based on disputes or personal attacks, but on the unrenounceable defense of projects, ideas, and principles. Likewise, he pointed out that his interventions will be aimed at strictly debating the decisions of the municipal Executive with which he disagrees, always acting with institutional respect and reclaiming his identity within the Peronist movement and its historical banners of social justice, political sovereignty, and economic independence.
The new councilman also emphasized that he will raise his voice whenever it is necessary to defend workers and protect jobs, clarifying that acting with firmness does not imply resorting to aggression, nor does exercising opposition mean hindering the development of the city. He concluded his message by reaffirming the premise that political activity only acquires true value when it is transformed into a concrete tool to improve the quality of life of the residents of Concordia.
Subsequently, and at the request of the vice-mayor, the leadership of the plenary session was taken over by the 1st Vice President of the Council, Dr. Felipe Sastre. During that part of the day, the body advanced in the voting and approval of various resolution projects and ordinances aimed at responding to neighborhood demands and initiatives of social and cultural interest for the community.
Among the declarations of Municipal Interest approved at the proposal of the council members, the historical and institutional event stands out
