This Friday, Mayor Francisco Azcué signed an agreement with the Association of Citrus Growers of Concordia, through which said institution and the Municipality of Concordia agreed to continue working together to prevent the establishment of HLB in the region.
Through this commitment, control and monitoring strategies are updated to prevent the entry of the disease that affects production and, consequently, could cause damage to one of the main productive sectors of the department.
The president of the Association of Citrus Growers of Concordia, Orlando Malvasio, highlighted that the action marks “the continuity of the plan that we already have established, and with this contribution from the Municipality, we are going to reinforce the tasks seeking to prevent this scourge, in which we are working very well.”
For his part, the territorial coordinator of the HLB program, Ignacio Livio, stressed that “the disease has not yet been detected in the Concordia department; controls continue to be carried out, and this agreement, which has been carried out for three years, is an effort made by the Municipality to try to ensure that this scourge does not reach the region.”
