The Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Sports, under the Secretariat of Human Development, has begun a new stage of the “Neighborhood Sports Leaders” program, expanding its reach with the incorporation of boxing as a central discipline. The proposal is a continuation of the activities carried out last year with soccer as the epicenter.
On this occasion, the initiative includes training sessions and meetings with sports leaders linked to boxing, also featuring the participation of Cuban boxer Maury Ramos Camejo, founder of the PlayBoxing method, an innovative proposal that combines boxing instruction with personal development tools and life skills.
During the launch, the mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted that “this is a program that began last year which seeks to strengthen the bond between the municipality and the city's sports leaders. In 2025 we started with soccer sports leaders; they are residents from different parts of the city who perform social work often out of a sense of service, using sports as a tool for transformation, inclusion, and human development”.
Therefore, we set out to “improve the bond and work together because they are not always in a club or an institution where they might have more tools, and in this case, we are expanding towards another popular sport like boxing. Concordia is the boxing capital of Entre Ríos, with a lot of talent and passion, and that is why we wanted to replicate this experience, also adding the presence of specialists who provide new tools and methodologies”, he outlined.
For his part, Ramos Camejo maintained that “I am here trying to expand this concept that seeks to use sports to improve people's lives, beyond competition. The program has not only technical elements of boxing, but also transmits life skills, working on neuromotor aspects and the motivation of children”.
The Secretary of Human Development, Sebastián Arístide, underscored the importance of joint work, noting that “it is a privilege to have the support of those who have experience and knowledge. We must seek these strategic allies that allow us to reach faster and better, especially in contexts where there are complex realities and sports play a fundamental role”.
Finally, the Undersecretary of Sports, Ivana Pérez, announced the continuity of the program throughout the year: “Today we begin with boxing, which will extend for three months, and in the second half of the year we will have women's soccer within the same program. These are the sports that attract the most people, and we seek to respond to that demand with inclusive proposals”.
