From July 1st to 3rd, Concordia will host the XX Spatial Data Infrastructure Days of the Argentine Republic (IDERA), the most important meeting in the country regarding geospatial information.
One of the institutions that will be participating is the Concordia Regional Faculty of the National Technological University (UTN). For this reason, a specific agreement was signed between the Municipality of Concordia and the higher education institution.
Mayor Francisco Azcué stated that “for our administration, it is satisfying to sign this agreement with a prestigious institution that contributes greatly to our city, not only in the training of professionals but also in various actions that we carry out jointly. This is a very important and prominent event at a national and international level that is being held for the first time and will be organized by a local government”.
For his part, Fabián Avid, Dean of the Regional Faculty, expressed his satisfaction at being part of these Days: “for us, it is very important to collaborate in this event, as well as in other activities that have been carried out with the Municipality, in this case hosting part of the activities of this meeting”.
STAGES OF THE DAYS
Sebastián Scévola, Director of Spatial Data Infrastructure, explained the scope of the event, which involves two complementary and differentiated stages:
GIS-SDI Days: oriented towards technical training and knowledge transfer linked to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), with the participation of specialists from national agencies, to be held on June 4 and 5, 2026.
Annual IDERA Days and II South American SDI Meeting: an in-person meeting of national and international scope, based in Concordia, which brings together public and private agencies, universities, and private sector initiatives to share experiences, debate standards, and strengthen geospatial data governance, to be held between July 1 and 3, 2026.
During the three days, our city will bring together leaders from the public, private, academic, and scientific spheres to exchange experiences, present developments, and debate the management of geospatial information, a key input for planning and strategic decision-making in governments.
