Within the framework of the regulatory policies promoted by the municipal administration, the Decentralized Entity of Sanitary Works (EDOS) will begin an inspection operation next Monday, June 22, aimed at detecting drinking water leaks originating from internal household installations that discharge onto public roads through storm drains.
The initiative aims to reduce water waste, promote more efficient use of an essential resource for the community, and ensure compliance with current regulations regarding sanitation and environmental protection.
EDOS emphasized that drinking water is a resource that requires significant investment for its collection, treatment, and distribution, making the commitment of all users essential to avoid leaks that affect both the system and all residents.
PROCEDURE FOR ACTION
Once a possible leak is detected, EDOS personnel will conduct a second inspection to verify the situation.
In the event that the persistence of the leak is confirmed, the owner or user of the property will be formally notified and will have a period of 72 business hours to carry out the corresponding repair and notify the agency.
If, after that period has expired, the situation has not been regularized nor the repair reported, EDOS will proceed to the total disconnection of the drinking water supply to the property involved, without prejudice to any other administrative actions that may apply.
CARING FOR WATER IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
The Municipality highlighted that these actions do not have a revenue-collecting purpose, but rather seek to raise awareness and promote responsible behavior regarding the use of drinking water.
"We are moving towards a more orderly city, where rules are followed and the optimization of public resources is sought. Every water leak that is wasted affects the entire system and ends up harming the entire community. That is why it is important for every resident to check their installations and carry out the necessary repairs," the agency noted.
The measure is part of a comprehensive policy aimed at improving service efficiency and strengthening environmental commitment, understanding that water conservation is a shared responsibility between the Municipality and the residents.
