The Municipality of Concordia held a new Assembly of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens, an inter-institutional coordination space where actions were agreed upon to strengthen communication, support, and comprehensive assistance for the city's senior citizens.
During the meeting, the Council members made progress in defining a work plan that prioritizes the construction of primary support networks, understood as a fundamental axis for the early detection of vulnerability situations and the accompaniment of senior citizens.
One of the main topics addressed was the need to develop action protocols that allow for the identification, categorization, and classification of the different forms of violence that affect senior citizens, including domestic violence and economic violence. The objective is to generate tools that enable rapid and coordinated intervention between the involved institutions and the competent judicial bodies.
Likewise, the importance of strengthening territorial approaches was highlighted as a key tool to detect these types of situations, facilitate access to available resources, and provide timely responses to those who need them.
Another of the assembly's axes was the analysis of the project presented by Dr. Guillermo Daymonaz regarding medium and long-stay residences for senior citizens. The initiative was considered a significant contribution to the design of a public policy that allows for a response to a growing demand in the city, promoting adequate spaces for care and accompaniment.
In addition, the need to create an official page for the Department of Senior Citizen Policies was raised, with the purpose of centralizing and disseminating information on programs, activities, services, and actions promoted by the Municipality for senior citizens and their families.
The Secretary of Productive Development, Sebastián Arístide, highlighted that “the articulated work between the different areas of the State and community institutions is fundamental to generate concrete responses to the needs of our senior citizens. These meeting spaces allow us to listen, plan, and advance in actions that strengthen their quality of life and guarantee greater access to their rights.”
Participating in the sixth Assembly of the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens were the head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal; the Director of Disability, Florencia Weiss; Margarita Cámara, representing the Casa de los Abuelos; Dr. Guillermo Dymonaz, for ANSES; Josefina Sánchez, for the Pension and Retirement Fund of the Province of Entre Ríos; Jorge Segovia, representing the retiree centers; and Councilwoman Verónica Del Boca, along with representatives of the institutions that make up the Council.
From the Municipality, it was highlighted that the Municipal Council for Senior Citizens continues to consolidate itself as a space for participation and collective construction, oriented toward promoting public policies that guarantee the protection, inclusion, and full exercise of the rights of the senior citizens of Concordia.
