In a session that addressed sensitive issues for residents and the commercial sector, the Deliberative Council of Concordia held its ninth ordinary session in the “Federico Zorraquín” chamber with the presence of all council members. The president of the legislative body, Lic. Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, highlighted the approval of two important administrative case files from the Municipal Executive, treated on the floor, which introduce significant modifications to the Tax ordinance.
Reta de Urquiza, highlighted the speed with which these projects were addressed, given their relevance to the community. "We have listened carefully to the demands of the residents and the commercial sector, and these modifications are a concrete response to their concerns", stated the president. One of the central points of the session was the modification to the municipal tax for sanitary services, which makes the differences between Zones more equitable, slightly decreases the tax rates for Zone I, and slightly increases Zone II of the Municipal Tax for Sanitary Services.
Regarding taxpayers with regularized debts, a modification to the article that establishes the surcharge for late paymentwas introduced. From now on, those residents who have up-to-date payment plans will not be considered delinquent. "This decision recognizes the effort of those who get up to date with their obligations and eliminates an additional burden that was unfair to many," maintained Reta de Urquiza.
Another issue of great impact for the local economy was the modification to the commercial municipal tax. The maximum tax rate that applied to food and beverage businesses, both retail and wholesale, was eliminated. In this way, these establishments will now pay a maximum of 1.9%, instead of the previous 2.7%. This measure, which had been requested by the Concordia Commerce and Industry Center, seeks to alleviate the tax burden on a sector
fundamental for the economic development of the city. "This is excellent news for our food and beverage merchants, who will see their tax burden reduced, which we hope will translate into greater dynamism for the sector", pointed out the president.
Finally, the session also gave the green light to the ordinance project that creates the Administrative Unit for Municipal Sports Establishments. This new administrative structure aims to optimize the management and operation of the city's sports facilities, seeking to improve conditions for the practice of physical and recreational activities for all citizens, ensuring their proper maintenance.
For the current legislative session, a total of thirty-two administrative case files were submitted. The following were approved:
- Ordinance Project from the Executive Department, Modifications to Tax Ordinance No. 38,539.
- Draft Ordinance that creates the Administrative Unit for Municipal Sports Establishments (Verónica del Boca- Eliana Lagraña).

TRIBUTES
In the commemoration of May 12, International Nurses Day, Concordia remembered the invaluable contribution of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of this essential profession. The councilman Guillermo Satalía Méndez extended a special greeting to all workers in the sector, highlighting their dedication and commitment.
The day had a double significance, as today, May 15, is also celebrated as the Sanitary Works Worker's Day, in memory of the start of the construction of the Buenos Aires Water Supply Center in 1874, as noted by the councilwoman Verónica Del Boca. In this context, Del Boca joined the recognition, sending a warm greeting to those who day by day guarantee fundamental services such as drinking water and sanitation. "Their work, often silent, is crucial for public health and the well-being of each of the inhabitants of our community", stated the councilwoman, highlighting the importance of their constant work.
