The same weekend that the awards and coronation ceremony for the 2020 Concordia Carnival was scheduled to take place, a Health Emergency due to coronavirus was decreed in the province, preventively prohibiting the holding of public events. The Carnival, as a cultural, tourist, and massive event, has been directly affected by the global pandemic since its initial stage when the comparsas begin their work. But the passion does not subside, and through social media, carnival participants found a place to gather and continue experiencing the greatest festival of the Concordia summer.
The Carnival Entity launched a series of interviews and dialogues with the winning figures of the 2020 edition through the official social media channels of the Concordia Carnival. Fátima Monzón, the brand-new Queen of the Festival, inaugurated the series, stating that "sharing this virtual space with the carnival participants is very valuable to appreciate our great festival and remember that the carnival is about giving and receiving joy, uniting us even more in this time of pandemic”.
The 2020 Battery Queen, Natalia Capri, who surprised everyone with a very daring dance proposal during her presentation in the 2020 edition, continued the interview series carried out through Instagram @ConcordiaEsCarnaval and expressed that "the carnival needed a caress like this, and the initiative is great to keep us together and united in this time of global pandemic that surprised us and affects us all".
Matias Soto, coordinator of Popular Festivals, said in this regard that "we know that the priorities at this moment are different, but we cannot lose sight of the Carnival, like many other activities that are directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The carnival is the most important cultural festival of the Concordia summer, which not only generates work for the people involved in the event, but is also the tourist engine that benefits both the public and private sectors during that time".
Therefore, "we are very attentive to the epidemiological evolution and the different resolutions that national, provincial, and municipal authorities are taking in different sectors. In this unprecedented context that we are living in, with a situation that has never been experienced before, we are evaluating everything day by day. And together with mayor Alfredo Francolini, we decided to promote this series of interviews because the carnival family asked for it, to be able to have contact with their figures and the winners of the 2020 edition", he added.
The interview series is broadcast live every Tuesday at 8:00 PM on the official Instagram of the Concordia Carnival (@Concordiaescarnaval ). Continues this Tuesday with an interview with Rocío Lombardi, ambassador of the most passionate festival for the residents of Concordia.
