The surprise was great when the personnel of the Decentralized Sanitary Works Entity (EDOS) arrived to resolve the complaints of residents of Benito Legerén regarding problems in the sewer networks. The residents reported that the sewers were overflowing and not working. When the Sanitary Works personnel performed excavations and comprehensive work on the networks, they found everything except sewage.
Beer cans, tire remnants, rags and sheets, broken pipes, were some of the things that residents threw into the sewer networks, which caused a total obstruction in the system, affecting the normal functioning of the network and harming other residents.
EDOS personnel worked for long hours to comprehensively repair the system, clearing the network and restoring service. During the task, a significant amount of solid waste was removed, such as cans, metals, rubber, fabrics, among others, all materials for which the network is not prepared and which generate the inconveniences that other residents suffer.
The misuse of the network is a constant that is repeated in different neighborhoods, where in each EDOS intervention they encounter elements that do not degrade easily, which accumulate and generate the obstructions that lead to the saturation of the system. Unfortunately, it often happens with great frequency that the Obras Sanitarias personnel must return shortly after to perform the same comprehensive cleaning work, due to the constant misuse of the service.
