This was announced by mayor Francisco Azcué during the closing of the First Pitaya Meeting held in our region, with the presence of producers, entrepreneurs, and national and international speakers.
In this regard, Azcué stated that “we are working together with the mayors of the department on a proposal to create a roundtable, along with producers, institutions, and the Provincial Government, to strengthen fruit and vegetable production in what is the CIVERCOM (Green Belt of Concordia).”
“We have enormous potential and, in this case, a very good product, as it is the southernmost and sweetest pitaya in the world, which is a very important added value, and we see that we can continue growing with fruit and vegetable farming. In our region, there are very talented producers who work, invest, and bet on development,” highlighted Azcué.
This entails the creation of genuine jobs, “that is why we need the countryside to do well, because they are the engine of development, and today we came to sit down with them to talk and create increasingly better conditions. That is the path that the Municipality of Concordia has taken in our case, as well as the province and the country,” maintained the mayor, who was accompanied by vice-mayor Magdalena Reta de Urquiza and the Secretary of Productive Development Federico Schattenhofer.
During the First Pitaya Meeting, topics related to varieties, planting, harvesting, frost control, crop coverage, and marketing strategies were addressed, providing practical and updated tools for those who wish to start or strengthen their production. It featured the participation of trainers from Paraguay, Brazil, and Peru, as well as producers from the region and neighboring provinces.
